Confusing at first, but simple easy system May 23, 2013
Reviewer: Bruce from San Luis Obispo, CA United States
This is just a simple antennae that relays a few gate signals to a gate 1000 feet away.  Mine was 700 feet and no issues. Clear transmission, better than my landline.

While it is "hooked up" to a phone, it is not hooked up to a live phone.  Understand this and it can be installed in 1 hour.  Once installed, the now dedicated gate phone (like the Red Phone in the White House) will be a single use phone; you won't be able to use it to phone Starbucks, even though you hear a dial tone.  If you want that, you need to replace it with a 2-line phone, using one of the secondary pairs for the gate phone.  That pair is not connected to the demarcation point in any way.

If you pick up the phone and hear busy signals, 2 signals at the same time, your landline phone locks up, etc. you messed up.

The drawback with this system (if it could be considered a drawback), is that you can't be in Timbuktu and phone home to open your gate or change the time codes.  But who does that anyway?
